West Coast mattress producer Pleasant Mattress is boosting its quality assurance and regulatory compliance with the appointment of a new Director of Quality and Compliance, Michael Stype, who joined the company in 2011 as Plant Manager. In his new role, he is responsible for quality assurance of incoming raw materials and output of new products.
Stype has worked in the bedding industry for 17 years, and started his career with Simmons Bedding Co. in Hawaii, later relocating to Charlotte, N.C., where he earned his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. Stype later joined International Bedding Corp. in Virginia as Plant Superintendent. In 2010, he moved to California where he worked with Serta before joining Pleasant Mattress.
