Pleasant Mattress Becomes Eclipse, Eastman House Licensee | Featured in Home Furnishings Business

Pleasant Mattress, one of the oldest independent mattress manufacturers on the West Coast, is joining Eclipse International and Eastman House as a licensee.

As part of the licensing agreement, Pleasant Mattress will produce a newly designed bed-in-a-box program for Eclipse International and Eastman House licensees. The program will debut at the Las Vegas Market, which begins Sunday and continues through Jan. 26.

“Pleasant Mattress is one of the country’s real gems in terms of independent manufacturers, and we are thrilled to have them join our network. They not only provide important new reach for our brand on the West Coast, but also give us great strength some new and emerging technologies that all our licensees will be able to benefit from,” said Stuart Carlitz, CEO of Eclipse.

According to Rion Morgenstern, president and CEO of Pleasant Mattress, the affiliation with Eclipse International gives the company a broader range of products and brands to sell to its customers.

“As an independent manufacturer, having targeted product diversity in our quiver will make us more effective in expanding our relationships with new and existing customers,” he said. “Much like Pleasant Mattress, Eclipse has a rich history of manufacturing steeped in tradition and entrepreneurship. We share a common heritage and culture that I believe will benefit both our companies for the long term.”

Pleasant Mattress also is a licensee of Spring Air and Chattam & Wells, and produces its own mattress line, which is branded as Maxx.

Based in North Brunswick, N.J., Eclipse International has been making mattresses since 1905. Eastman House was founded in 1866 and is the oldest, continuous mattress manufacturer in the United States.

Eclipse has 61 licensees, including 17 in the U.S., two in Canada and 42 overseas servicing 65 countries or provinces.
